Somloi Forras Pince

The name means: Somlo Spring Cellar. It is a one-man-show, a tiny winery run by an enthusiastic local winemaker, Tamas MOD. He works on just about one hectare, grows mostly olaszrizling but his more exciting plot is one of those mixed old plantations, which are getting ever scarcer on Somlo due to large wineries unifying the grapes. It is a shame, as the ” true Somlo taste ” comes off these old, low-yielding but highly concentrated mixed plots.
